Hudson Firefighters Memorial Park To Honor Those Who Have Served. The members of the Hudson Fire Department have erected a memorial dedicated to the men and women of the Hudson Fire Department and to the members who have given their lives in the line of duty for the Town of Hudson. The following firefighter is honored with his name inscribed upon the memorial: James A. Taylor, Firefighter - Engine 4, Died: July 27, 1981
Hammond Park Dedication The Hudson Fire Department is working to dedicate the land that the Firefighters Memorial is located on to Firefighter Leon Hammond. Firefighter Hammond was an active member of the department for more than 50 years. He was also very active in town activities and civic organizations. He was a long time member of the Hudson Historical Society, a past member of the Budget Committee, and acted as assistant town moderator. The plot of land to be dedicated sits across from Leon’s former home and will be named Hammond Park. To honor him, a Granite stone shaped as a Firefighters’ Helmet Shield with a Granite Base which will be etched with a profile of Leon Hammond and lettering for the parks name and Firefighters Memorial. To raise funds for this project, the Department is selling engraved bricks to be placed in the walkways at the Firefighters Memorial.
